Synopsis[]
Star Trek: DS9 vet Nana Visitor pays Lydecker a visit in a key episode that exposes an awful truth about Max. Visitor plays 'deck's mysterious boss, Madame X, who's finally revealed after two corpses turn up bearing the bar code of an escaped X-5. Realizing the Manticore runaway is behind the deaths, she orders Lydecker to take action before she has to. Meanwhile, Max races to stop her fellow fugitive from taking another life, but their face-off could unleash Max's own killer instincts — instincts Logan uncovers after a rendezvous with Max's worst enemy.

- Due to his death, this is the only episode where Ben appears, discounting the flashbacks from this episode shown in "...And Jesus Brought a Casserole", "Designate This", "Bag 'Em", and "Hello, Goodbye".
- The producers and writers were so impressed by Jensen Ackles's performance in this episode that they decided to bring him back for Season 2. The season premiere, "Designate This", introduces Ben's identical twin brother Alec McDowell, also played by Ackles, as a main cast member.
